MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2026 — MARKET REPORT
November is opening with something for almost every modern sports card collector: colorful baseball designs, a new basketball rookie class, and another football release competing for attention.
The challenge is deciding which of those products belongs in your collection. A full release calendar can make everything feel urgent, but a little preparation helps separate an interesting announcement from a purchase you will still appreciate next month.
This week’s Market Report covers the manufacturer dates worth watching, what one October sales dataset actually tells us, and a marketplace service notice that could affect delivery expectations.
The release calendar: November 2–6
Topps’ current calendar lists the following dates:
Date - Product - Status listed
- November 2 - 2026 Topps Chrome Update Series Baseball - Preorder
- November 2 - 2026 Bowman U Signature Football - Preorder
- November 4 - 2026 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball - Scheduled release
- November 5 - 2026–27 Topps Flagship Basketball - Scheduled release
- November 6 - 2026 Topps Inception Football - Scheduled release
These are manufacturer listings checked November 1, and dates remain subject to change. The two Monday entries are preorder openings, not promises that collectors will have those products in hand that day.
Baseball: Decide which collecting experience you want
Cosmic Chrome gives baseball collectors a different visual direction from a traditional flagship collection. Topps describes a space-themed release with returning Planetary Pursuits content and new Mars Attacks MLB and Cosmic Dust inserts.
That makes this a useful week to think about design preferences. Do you enjoy building a player collection across unusual inserts, or would you rather focus on a familiar base-card design?
Chrome Update’s preorder provides another decision point. Before ordering, check the final checklist, format, and expected shipping information. A product announcement alone does not establish which version will be the best fit for your collection.
Basketball: The rookie collecting calendar gets a new chapter
Topps lists a 300-card base set for 2026–27 Flagship Basketball and identifies Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa, Cameron Boozer, Caleb Wilson, and Keaton Wagler among its rookie subjects. The manufacturer’s current landing page lists availability for November 5.
For collectors, this creates a chance to choose a focused project before the checklist becomes a scrolling shopping list. One rookie, a favorite team, or a particular insert design can provide a manageable starting point.
Our take: make a short target list before release day. If you want one specific player, compare the cost of that single once copies become available with the cost of opening a product to search for it.
Football: Read the format as carefully as the product name
Topps positions Inception Football around bold designs, autographs, colorful parallels, and a checklist including Fernando Mendoza. Its product information also distinguishes First Day Issue content from the broader release.
That distinction matters. A preview of an exclusive format should not be treated as the contents of every box carrying the Inception name. Confirm the exact version, guarantees, and checklist before buying.
October sales: A measured signal, not a hobby-wide verdict
Clector’s October recap reports 113,754 matched eBay sales totaling approximately $6.06 million in its tracked dataset. It reports declines of 34.5% in sales count and 37.9% in dollar volume versus the prior month.
The provider says it automatically matches sold listings to checklist entries, separates grades in its card-level tracking, and excludes listings it cannot confidently match. Those figures describe its covered sample—not all eBay transactions or the entire sports card market.
Lower tracked dollar volume does not mean an individual card fell by that percentage. Changes in the number and mix of cards sold can affect the total. Likewise, an active asking price is not a completed sale.
Use broad reports to decide where to investigate. Use closely matched completed sales to evaluate a particular card.
Marketplace watch: Allow time for authentication
The eBay Authenticity Guarantee page checked November 1 carries a notice that some orders may face delays of seven days or more. The service authenticates eligible purchases; it does not grade or regrade cards.
If a purchase is intended as a gift, build in time for the full process and review the listing’s delivery estimate.
This week, prioritize a clear collecting goal over a crowded calendar. Browse Great Lakes Trading Cards for your next discovery, and choose the cards that make your collection feel like yours.
